Project Reflection

In my previous project, Evolution of Football Gear, I learned lots of new things that I didn't know before.  My project was about football pads from the beginning of football, to present day. The pieces of gear that I was working with were the helmets, shoulder pads, and pants/leg pads.

One thing that I found interesting was that helmets have evolved from optional thin leather helmets, to hard, plastic, concussion-proof helmets with metal face masks. Another thing about the helmets is that it took about 100 years to make that big change. In the shoulder pads section, there used to be little, stuffed, sew-on shoulder pads. Something else is that everybody had the same kind of shoulder pads back then. Today, they are molded for maximum protection in college and the NFL. Also, the shoulder pads change according to the position. For example: Linemen-long pads with little shoulders, Running Backs-thick, big and very strong for hard hits, and Wide Receivers or Defensive Backs- not big, but not small, still offering lots of protection. Under the pants/leg pads section, there used to be sewn-in thigh pads not very much protection. They have changed a long way from those pads, to optional sewn-in  plastic pads, with soft padding covering them. The pants today are tight, strong, and very safe.

Like I said, football pads have changed a ton over the past 100 years.

SPRING FOOTBALL

Spring football is the best time of the year. It is where most of the big time action happens. Also it is where games are won and lost to determine who will go to the Super Bowl. Football is one of the greatest sports in the world. There are matchups that some people might think are unfair, but at the same time, there are people who think that the other team is just a big clump of peewee level players. Sometimes they are proved completely wrong. There are 32 different teams in the NFL (National Football League). The 32 teams are dividend into two leagues: AFC (American Football Conference) and the NFC (National Football Conference).Another thing that comes with spring football is Fantasy Football. Fantasy Football is when you collect players from offenses all around the league (not physically) and when they do something good like a touchdown, you get points from that. It isn't just offense, you pick a full team defense and play them. If they get a sack, or a interception, you will get points for that too. Whoever has the most points at the end of the week, will win for that week. If you have the most points at the end of the season, you have won fantasy football! Like I said, football is great.

Book Review

The book that I just recently finished is called The Red Pyramid. This is the first book in the newer series by Rick Riordan called The Kane Chronicles. It is mainly about Egyptian magic, mythology, and ancient gods. It is about two kids (Sadie and Carter Kane) who experience some very unfortunate events in their life. Sadie Kane, Carter's sister, lives with her grandparents and goes to school. Carter Kane, Sadie's brother lives with his dad and travels the world with him. Also he is home schooled. This book takes place all over the world while the two kids are in search of their dad and uncle who have gone missing with the help of some Egyptian gods. I am not going to give away any more of the story. It ended a lot better than I thought. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Egyptian Mythology because there is a lot of that in this book. There isn't any other books in this series yet.
